Around Valentines Day of The Plague I began compiling some songs I'd written over the winter months -- stories, or at least moments and character portraits, I'd write to pass the time as the wind and snow beat up against the windows of my room. To my surprise many of the stories involved lovers in their triumph and in their misery -- in their immortal ecstasy and in their possessive undoing. In noticing this, I became utterly fascinated by the insane variety of feelings that can occur within love. The paradox of a lover's affection making one feel simultaneously greater than an Angel and less than a Worm. The ability for one's love to actually push somebody further away. The ability for love to make someone say -- "I'd rather walk with my lover in darkness, than to walk alone in the light". . .

I have enjoyed bringing these stories / portraits to life, reworking the lyrics and titles, integrating novels I've read, and tipping my hat to other artists and writers who've expressed the entangled threads of love in ways I'll ponder forever. I hope you all enjoy picking it apart, pondering it, and reinterpreting it in your own way.

Your love and understanding of love is beyond what I can capture in words. Thank you for being in this life with me, I love you.
